Vitalik looks like Tom Brady on meth?

Vitalik looks like Tom Brady on meth?

Direct from the desk of Dane Williams.

Following the Vitalik Buterin/Tom Brady Twitter exchange, there are lessons for us here on Hive.

Granted I’m a little slow on this one, but it’s too good to not talk about.

At first I couldn’t stop laughing at Vitalik.

But there is a lesson for us here on Hive that can be taken out of this exchange, so bear with me.

The Vitalik Buterin/Tom Brady Twitter exchange

Tell me that you guys saw Vitalik on the cover of TIME Magazine?

The main story here was that when a crypto personality such as our friend Vitalik is starting to be put on the cover of mainstream magazines like TIME, then you know crypto is going to the next level.

But then Vitalik opened his mouth and the narrative was open to be changed.

“I didn't even know who Tom Brady is, had to ask people around me. My best guess was that he was the actor from Mission Impossible.”

Oh my god.

How good!

Imagine being so immersed in your own little bubble that you’ve created that you literally have no idea about anything outside of your field.

It takes a certain type of personality to do this and as you can see not only from what Vitalik has done for Ethereum, but for the entire crypto industry as a whole, it can make you pretty fucking successful too.

But hey, GOATs resonate with other GOATs.

And Tom Brady, who certainly knows who Vitalik is, was more than happy to chime into the conversation.

Oh man, it’s just too good.

But remember I said the narrative was open to be changed?

So while also a GOAT in his field, Tom doesn’t wear the same blinkers over his eyes that Vitalik does.

Reaching the end of his career, Brady has turned an eye to the business world and of course crypto.

And when seeing someone with the connections and reach of Vitalik mention his name, he was more than happy to throw that big metaphorical palm up into the air to intercept the conversation.

Yep, because now it had become a free, viral ad for his company Autograph.

Tom Brady, you sly old dog you!

Marketing lessons for us here on Hive

For me, there is a marketing lesson that we on Hive can take from these goats.

We have an army of crypto community members who while not quite having the reach of Tom Brady, certainly command some level of social standing across different projects and communities.

So why aren’t we using this social standing to put Hive and the leading Hive-based projects such as LeoFinance, Splinterlands or the SPK Network front and centre?

One member of the Hive community that gets this is @theycallmedan.

Just yesterday for example, Dan was using his social influence to put Hive at the forefront of the algorithmic stablecoin debate.

While there are merits to being trapped in our own little bubble in order to build just like Vitalik, we NEED to be more like Tom Brady.

Use every chance you have to amplify your social reach.

Reply, quote and add value to the discussion outside of our platform.

Always making sure you are linking back to the benefits of Hive.

Best of probabilities to you.

PS. I unfortunately still have no idea what is the best practice when formatting LeoFinance blog posts with embedded tweets.

While they don’t auto-embed into the Leo version of the post, simply copy/pasting the URL like above looks excellent when viewed via PeakD.

Anyway, who knows.

See you in the comments section!
